The US investment bank admitted that it "clearly misjudged" the project it would fund and that it quickly turned into a fiasco.

"We clearly misjudged how this operation would be perceived by the world of football in general and the impact it would have in the future. We will learn from that," a spokesperson for JPMorgan said.

The bank does not explicitly state whether it is severing ties with the Superlega.

According to the text of an interim decision made on Tuesday by the Commercial Court of Madrid, the loan agreed on April 17 was 3.983 billion euros. This project was announced on Sunday evening before being 'torpedoed' 48 hours later by the withdrawal of six English clubs, after strong political pressure and sporting protests, but also due to vehement reactions from fans. JPMorgan had publicly announced that it would finance the competition, the Super League having in particular provided for an initial payment of 3.5 billion euros to be divided between the twelve founding clubs.
