(ANSA) - ROME, APRIL 23 - Geneticists and philosophers, environmental scientists, but also actors and big names in comics, references to the world of cyberpunk, suggestions to the Blade Runner.

For his Italian Pavilion, which opens to the public joyfully in attendance from 22 May in Venice, for the 17th International Architecture Exhibition of the Biennale, Alessandro Melis has brought together the most diverse minds,

science, arts, thought, mathematics. All, by virtue of the title which is precisely that of "

Resilient Communities"

, with a common goal: to demonstrate that resilience, including that of urban communities, lies in the ability to diversify, shape and re-establish themselves. Like the genome and like the human brain.

A "jungle inhabited by strange creatures", as the curator defines it, where in harmony with nature everything is recycled, "with almost zero CO2 impact". And that in times of very serious crisis was able to count on a state loan of 600 thousand euros to which were added as many resources guaranteed by sponsors

.

The idea, explains the architect who has always been committed to the themes of innovation and sustainability, is that of

a reflection on the state of the art in terms of urban resilience, in Italy and in the world,

through the exhibition of works by architects Italians, with a focus on methodologies, agronomy, biology, art and medicine.

Impossible not to find - as already in the general theme identified for the exhibition by Sarkis (How will we live together? How will we live together?) - a strong connection with the historical moment we are experiencing, "crucial", defines the architect, with the health crisis that added to the environmental emergency.

Circumstances for all of us unprecedented, difficult, dramatic. But at the same time incredibly favorable, says Melis, for the development of creativity. Hence the idea of a truly hypercreative Pavilion, where the boundaries between the arts and those between art and science blur, in a continuous interaction.

A Pavilion "of possibilities, not only for architecture", he explains, which "does not offer dogmas but questions".

And that explores marginalization "because it is often here, in the background noise, that solutions to problems are found".

From installation to installation, among the recycled panels from the previous edition, the main objective is to make people think,

explain clearly, but without ever simplifying the complexity of the existing one, the fact that "the status quo is not an option ", the architect reiterates, thanking the" courage "shown by Franceschini's ministry and by Ninni Cutaia's art and contemporaneity general direction for supporting a work that actually encourages turning points, changes," finding local solutions for global challenges that we are now forced to face ", as the minister himself underlines alongside him.

In fact, image after image, the story of this project is a river full of philosophical and scientific concepts, a hymn to research and at the same time a journey through time and space full of references, quotes and suggestions.

Which in the concrete of the visit will also translate into experiential and immersive paths, thanks to the contribution of creatives and masters of the sector such as the cartoonist Riccardo Burchielli, who will offer "forms of expression linked to the graphic novel, to gaming, in tones and modes of cyberpunk inspiration. "to approach the younger audience or the theater with the Peccioli Laboratory

. And the architecture? "His role is that of directing", Melis replies, putting together ideas to find solutions, to improve the quality of life. In this very particular path also that of stimulating thought, of pushing the visitor to question "about the resilience mechanisms of the communities", about the solutions that have worked more than others and that become a priority reading key "for the recovery of interaction between space urban and productive territory ", to rediscover the relationship often lost in our cities between" the physical and social dimensions ".

A project that contains in itself "many challenges", Franceschini emphasizes

, "a reflection on the capacity for transformation and adaptation of Italian communities, now necessary to respond locally to global challenges. We cannot escape".

Meanwhile, the first challenge has been won, assures the president of the Biennale Roberto Ciccutto: after the postponement a year ago, the Architecture Biennale opens to the public safely, relying on the happy example of the 2020 Film Festival. Of course with "some sacrifices" , from the online ticket to distances, tracking, masks, one-way streets. "But being there will be very important."
