In light of the morbidity data in Corona, Health Minister Yuli Edelstein announced today (Sunday) that he will bring to the government's approval a series of concessions concerning, among other things, gatherings in various areas, operation of gyms and occupancy in public transportation.

According to the Minister's announcement, if approved - the relief will take effect next Thursday, May 6, depending on the disease situation across the country.

The concessions that the Ministry of Health will bring to the government's approval:

Elimination of occupancy restrictions, formulation of conditions for activity and permission to bring food to places that operate according to the green label.

Also, attractions in the building, swimming pools and gyms will operate according to a purple mark and not just a green mark.

In addition, the ministry will ask to change the limit of gatherings - 500 people in an open area, and up to 50 in a closed building.

In public transport, too, relief is expected with the abolition of the occupancy limit of 75%.

The Ministry of Health also announced that "as part of the purple mark, the occupancy limit will be one person per 7 meters, and children and vaccine engines will be able to enter green mark activities in a PCR test."

As part of the relief, as agreed between Minister Edelstein and Minister of Culture Hili Trooper, full occupancy of the sports fields and halls of culture will be possible.

However, the announcement clarified that the obligation to wear masks in an enclosed space and to maintain a distance of two meters between people will be maintained.

"Thanks to vaccines, morbidity in Israel has reached an unprecedented level since the beginning of the corona, when an absolute majority of the economy is open," said Minister Edelstein.

"In such a situation, it is possible to further expand the facilities for the public. Our main concern is the introduction of variants through Ben Gurion Airport, so we will not allow facilities there at this stage."

Minister Trooper said: "As with every beat, this time too we continue to expand the audience in the sports fields and cultural halls. We will reach numbers that only six months ago we could have dreamed of - all thanks to the great cooperation from the public. We are very happy And in the sports fields according to the green mark.

"I sincerely hope that May, known in world sports as a month of decisions and in the world of culture as the summer opening of great cultural shows, will be accompanied by tens of thousands of spectators who will enjoy the wide opening."
