The world's most successful Israeli fashion designer, Albert Elbaz, died on Saturday at the American Hospital in Paris after falling ill in Corona, when he was only 59 years old.
Just recently he launched the first collection of his new brand bearing the first letters of his name - AZ FACTORY, a brand he announced in early 2020, five years after leaving the French fashion house Lennon.
Elbaz was born in Casablanca, Morocco, and when he was eight months old he immigrated to Israel, his family lived in Holon.
He completed regular service in the IDF and studied at Shenkar - a high school of engineering and design, and to this day he is considered the most successful student and the pride of the school.
In 2005, Elbaz received the International Fashion Designer of the Year Award from the United States Fashion Designers Council.
In 2007 he received much respect when Time magazine named him one of the 100 most influential people in the world.
He was close to many celebrities, and lived the fashion world in all its glory in Paris and New York.
Vogue magazine wrote that "The visionary, a native of Morocco, is best known for launching the French brand Lennine into the major leagues during his tenure. When he recently returned to the fashion world, he returned with a fresh perspective and a modern brand offering. "Whose works have always focused on making people happy and special."
