The President of the Republic goes Monday morning, the day of a return to school under health surveillance for kindergarten and primary school students

He knows this high-risk comeback.

President Emmanuel Macron defended the reopening of schools on Monday, in a message posted on Twitter, before a visit to an establishment in Melun with the Minister of National Education.

"Our children must be able to continue to surrender," wrote Emmanuel Macron.

School helps fight against social inequalities and destiny.

This is why our children must be able to continue to go there and to learn, with a strict protocol.

Welcome back everyone !

And let's continue to apply barrier gestures (remember the song).

After three weeks of closure of all schools to fight against the Covid-19 epidemic, the government has decided to maintain its schedule: return to school this Monday for schoolchildren, while middle school and high school students are backing up until May 3, date on which they will be able to return to their establishments, often in half-gauge.

Objective: to hold ten weeks until the end of the school year, without this reopening worsening the dynamics of the epidemic, which remains at a high level.

For ten days, the number of patients in intensive care has been close to 6,000, a figure higher than that of the second wave in the fall.

Emmanuel Macron will defend this reopening, criticized even in the medical profession, in a school in Melun this Monday morning.

If this re-entry is marked by a strict health protocol, it remains a source of uncertainty for parents and some teachers.

Fewer schools closed in France

This visit aims to "thank them for their commitment since the beginning of the crisis and discuss with them the specific health framework for schools and the means implemented to ensure pedagogical continuity", which underlines the Elysee, which ensures that "the Head of State is committed to keeping schools open as much as possible with regard to educational issues, but also to fight against inequalities and domestic or external violence ”.

The protocol, already at work before the holidays, provides for the closure of a class from the first case of Covid confirmed among its students.

With the return of sunny days, the government is also encouraging outdoor classes.

The organization of canteens, where children eat without a mask is the "weak link" of the establishments, recognizes the Minister of National Education, Jean-Michel Blanquer.

The stake of this recovery is to massify the capacities of tests for children and teachers.

In nursery and primary schools, 400,000 saliva tests should be deployed from the start of the school year, with a target of 600,000 per week by mid-May.

According to Unesco, France was the European country which has closed its schools the least for a year (March 2020-March 2021) with 10 weeks of closure in total, against 28 in Germany and 47 in the United States, welcomes the Presidency.
