The relaxation of health restrictions will be done "very gradually" in order to avoid an epidemic outbreak, the spokesperson stressed.

Italy is partially reopening its bars, restaurants, cinemas and theaters.

A few weeks earlier, we were envious of scenes of jubilation in the busy streets of London, the day the terraces reopened.

But according to Gabriel Attal, the same scenario is not envisaged in France: deconfinement will be done surely, but slowly.

Invited on LCI this Monday morning, the government spokesperson insisted on the necessary caution to be adopted.

Beers on the terrace and open shops: the English find a little freedom

After the lifting of travel restrictions on May 3, the first reopening "mid-May" would only constitute a "first step", insists Gabriel Attal.

Neither the precise date nor the establishments concerned have yet been set, but Emmanuel Macron will return "soon to the French" to "give them the stages of the reopening calendar" of certain terraces and places of culture.

"Things will be done very gradually between now and the summer, we are not going to reopen everything at once, that would not be responsible," he asserts, criticizing the management of neighboring countries in the process.

"We have seen certain countries around us, such as Germany, Italy, which opened a lot of places at once and unfortunately had to close them a few days or a few weeks later".

According to him, "we must find the best time, it depends on two things: first, the work of the government on these stages must have advanced.

I can tell you that it is moving forward, we have regular meetings to prepare for these deadlines, ”he explained.

Territorialization is "an option, a possibility"

"The second thing is that the announcements must be made sufficiently in advance so that the people who work in the places that have been closed can obviously prepare for their reopening, because that requires a great deal of organization and preparation. ", he added.

"Territorialization is an option on the table, a possibility, there is no decision taken or announcement on this subject," he added regarding the lifting of restrictions. However, if so, this will not necessarily lead to continued travel restrictions in some areas. Territorialization would therefore apply more to reopening.
