In the video: with corona tests and restrictions - Eilat opens to vacationers (Photo: Shai Makhlouf, editor: Tal Reznik)
The fiery combination of a post-Corona feeling, the surge in temperatures and the fact that Israel has become a kind of immunized island that looks at the rest of the planet with condescension, has caused many - very many, who are we working for?
- To do the only vacation activity that is still available to them - a vacation in Eilat.

While our private resort
food
and resort abounds in sun, sea, hotels and a few dolphins, it also has a relatively far-fetched culinary stigma, one that sends masses of tourists repeatedly to the buffet, and to a few other places that have undergone the collective bite filter.

Invested, corrupt, photogenic.
"Whale" (Photo: Lior Raphael)
This stigma, we are happy to report, has slowly cracked in recent years, and continues to shatter as I write these lines. Veteran and well-known places survived the plague, established themselves and penetrated the Israeli indifference. Newer places have opened up alongside them, adding some more color and flavors to the menu.
The former - such as "The Last Refuge", "Eddie's Hideout" and "Whale" - no longer need recommendations from us, although questions will be given, and are given, whenever we are asked. The latter needed a purposeful, preferably tanned and local hand, and even more preferably a talented and skilled one.
That is exactly why we turned to Lior Raphael, the chef of that "whale", and the one who became last June, Corona and all, an invested and inferior, corrupt and photogenic hamburger. We asked him for recommendations, we asked him to tell us about the places he likes to go to eat in the city, and we asked him not to forget his private place. He supplied all the requested goods, except the last one.Self-aviation is probably a more Tel Aviv affair.
In short, get five delicious, excellent, recommended and * not * familiar places to eat in Eilat (and do not forget those who paved the way).
Appetite, and a pleasant vacation!

Palm Beach
My office this morning.
Palm Beach (Photo: Lior Raphael)
I start there almost every morning, it's for me my office.
There are not many places where you can sit on the water and have a good coffee.
Dekel is doing it right.
There is a menu that goes beyond the usual fried limits, and goes on to fresh salads, invested sandwiches (did anyone say pita chicken patties on the beach?) And everything in the most Eilat atmosphere possible.

Brenze Coffee
Steal lunch with the kids.

The bronze was opened by Gal and Kfir eight years ago in the tourist area.
Gal once told me he had opened a place he would like to sit with his dad, and bought me in an instant.
Kirill, the chef of the place (worked for years in the leading restaurants in the country, including "Mol Yam" and with us at "Whale"), created an easy and pleasant menu that suits everyone, and includes fresh salads and healthy dishes, cereals, and pastas.
I like to steal lunch there with the kids.
Besides, the bar has live performances at night and excellent coffee throughout the day.

Amos' kitchenette
Small and wonderful.

Amos (blessed be his hands) was the chef of the big hotels in Eilat.
Today he has a wonderful little restaurant on Palm Street, where he and his wife and kids work together every day.
In addition to the regular dishes, there are alternating dishes that are written on a board and change on a daily basis, such as peca, fish patties, sabash horseradish, head meat and more.

Pizza Passino
Not a location, but it's worth it.
"Pizza Passino" (Photo: Lior Rafael)
There are excellent pizza players in Eilat today.
There are the old ones like "La Cucina" and "Pastori", there are the neighborhood Eilat ones like "Tonino" and "Pizza Lek", and recently an oven pizza was also added - the wonderful "Fortuna".
In addition to all these, if you are coming on vacation, there is the "Pizza Passino".
The guys there know the craft well and they make good dough, balanced sauce and toppings that know how to work with all the other ingredients in harmony.
Pizza Passino is not a location.
They only work in shipments.
We order from them a courier to one of the great locations the city has to offer at sunset (Lampi at Herods, or a breakwater at the marina) and boom, you have a great meal with a view that money can’t buy, and preserve the dining experience to other heights.
You're on vacation, flow.

Omar's
Clean, tidy, sweetened.
Omar's (Photo: Lior Rafael)
I'm sick of Omar's.
Chef Tal worked for years in the leading restaurants in the city, until one day he decided he wanted something simple and his own, so he opened Omar's - a clean, tidy and sweet place.
In prana, in pita, in challah, everything goes.
I always flow there with what they offer me, and every once in a while they hit a bull.
