(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, APRIL 26 - "The European Commission launched a legal action on Friday against AstraZeneca, on behalf of the 27 member states".
This was announced by a spokesman for the community executive, stating that "the company has not been able to present a reliable strategy" on the delivery of vaccines.
"Our priority is to ensure that deliveries of Covid-19 vaccines take place to protect the health of 'citizens' of the European Union. That is why the European Commission has decided together with all Member States to initiate legal action against AstraZeneca." So on Twitter the European Commissioner for Health Stella Kyriakides. AstraZeneca's response is ready, which "regrets the decision of the EU Commission to take legal action on the supply of COVID-19 vaccines" and announces that "it will defend itself firmly in court".
