It is a wall of straw of about 2.5 meters that the activists of Greenpeace erected in front of the Ministry of Ecological Transition in the 7th arrondissement of Paris early this morning. An action that aims to challenge the government on a strict and unique framework for all new GMOs in the same way as old GMOs. The NGO denounces the attitude of Barbara Pompili "who wallows in silence and refuses to comment publicly on this subject which falls under her ministry".
Greenpeace denounces new genome editing techniques that produce GMOs.
They believe that these techniques are likely to threaten the right of consumers to choose whether or not to consume GMOs.
In 2018, the Court of Justice of the European Union made it clear that these new GMOs should be banned.
France has still not published a decree to regulate them and is awaiting the European Commission report published on April 30 to rule.

"We are in Paris this morning in front of the Ministry of Ecological Transition and the Hotel Matignon to denounce the government's inaction on the subject of new GMOs," explains Suzanne Dalle, Agriculture campaigner at Greenpeace France. It is urgent that France defend in European negotiations a firm position in favor of strict regulations common to all GMOs, as demanded by the Court of Justice of the European Union. Otherwise, new GMOs could invade our fields and our plates tomorrow without traceability, to the detriment of our health and the environment ”.
