Not every branch of the economy suffers from Corona: online dating sites are benefiting from the pandemic.

A survey shows how the behavior of singles has changed in Corona times.

The online dating agency LemonSwan from Hamburg asked 1,180 users to get to know each other in times of Corona and compared the answers with the results of a survey from early summer 2020.

One thing is certain:

despite the third wave of pandemics, singles do not want to do without face-to-face meetings

(2020: 75 percent, 2021: 78 percent).

But the sexes differ in many ways when it comes to attitudes towards dating in pandemic times.

Dating in times of Corona: women are more cautious

A face-to-face meeting with an interesting woman is currently an option for a full 83 percent of the male respondents. For women it is “only” 73 percent. Accordingly, every fourth man said that he made a normal meeting to meet, as he did before the Corona period. Only one in ten women does that. Important for both genders:

getting to know each other online beforehand in order to better assess how he or she stands on the current situation and what a meeting might look like.

45 percent of the LemonSwan singles surveyed rely on it - this is even more important for women (49 percent) than for men (41 percent)

.

However, this point has lost some of its relevance year-on-year: in 2020, getting to know each other online was still an important criterion for a subsequent appointment for more than half of those surveyed (51 percent).

AHA rules are neglected

But how do singles feel about infection protection when they meet?

The simplest of all AHA rules *, which means keeping your distance, was still the highest command for just under a third (29 percent) of those surveyed in the early summer of 2020.

In spring 2021 it seems to be different,

because only 18 percent of the survey participants keep their distance

- here too women (20 percent) are more cautious than men (16 percent).

Kissing prohibited?

That depends on the messages and phone calls beforehand

When it comes to kissing and touching at first meetings, the trend is slowly moving towards less caution: In the 2020 survey, more than one in three LemonSwan singles (39 percent) stated that they were more cautious than before the pandemic about exchanging kisses and Touches. Today only one in four (24 percent) says that. Only 13 percent say absolutely no to lip service, although women are more cautious here too. For every fifth respondent (19 percent) kisses and touch are out of the question.

For men, on the other hand, it is only 8 percent.

The most important criterion for men and women alike to allow a kiss or touch to be close is again the common basis that was previously created when getting to know each other online and on the phone.

More than one in three (35 percent) makes corresponding initial caresses dependent on it.

Potential partners should be on the same wavelength as infection protection

Even if the trend is slightly towards less caution, singles in the pandemic obviously attach great importance to getting to know each other before a face-to-face meeting - in 2020 as well as in 2021. So it's no wonder that many singles are still looking for love online ,

want

a partner

with the same attitude regarding corona protective measures

.

That was important for three out of four single women (74 percent) and more than every second man (53 percent) in the LemonSwan survey.

Overall, that's 64 percent and thus slightly more than in early summer 2020, when 62 percent said.

After a year of pandemic: Singles have got used to their situation

How is it now?

Are singles tired of Corona today or have they learned to better assess risks?

In fact, the current online survey by LemonSwan shows that most singles have come to terms with their situation:

More than a third (37 percent) have now settled in well in the current situation.

A good 29 percent are even optimistic about the future.

However, around another third (31 percent) also say that the measures that were taken in the wake of the corona pandemic are troubling them.
