The masks do not offer sufficient protection against corona.

A customer apparently wanted to return FFP2 masks affected by the recall in a Rossmann branch in Duisburg. But the employee refused, according to her statements. On the one hand, they need a receipt, on the other hand, the masks are no longer available in the cash register system. The customer reported this on Facebook. How could it be that there was an official recall and then the masks were only reimbursed with a receipt. The user "finds this behavior absolutely outrageous."
On the advice of another user, she went to a Rossmann branch again.
The good news: this time there was no problem returning the defective masks.
The drugstore also reported in the comments on the incident.
They apologized to the customer and emphasized that there was no need for a receipt for a refund.

Munich - For reasons of preventive consumer protection, the drugstore chain Rossmann is calling back FFP2 masks from the manufacturer altapharma.
The batch affected by the recall is LOT 2020F50; it would not meet the requirements for personal protective equipment.

The company wrote in a recall notice: “In particular, they do not offer any protection when working in an oily environment.
This means: for example, when working on oiled engines, gearboxes or servicing equipment with oil-based coolants, the protection does not meet the FFP2 standard. "
Therefore Rossmann asks not to use the altapharma FFP2 mask (EAN 4305615831466) of the batch LOT 2020F50 as personal protective equipment.

The masks can be returned.
If the masks affected by the recall are returned, the purchase price will be refunded, writes the company.
Usually, FFP2 masks offer particularly good protection, because they have the advantage that, unlike "normal" masks, they not only protect others if you are contagious, but also yourself. Masks with higher filter performance (such as FFP- Masks) not only filter the exhaled, but also the inhaled air.
In many parts of Germany, it is now mandatory to wear FFP2 masks in shops and in local public transport.
