More nature thanks to the pandemic: Since the beginning of the corona crisis, young people have been spending more time outdoors, according to their own estimates.
More than half of young people say they are out in parks or forests more often.
This is the result of the first youth nature awareness study, announced the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN).
Accordingly, 52 percent of adolescents and young adults said they were "much more often" or at least "a little more often" in nature than before the corona crisis.
For them, nature often plays an important role in reducing stress and distraction, but also as a space for sport and exercise.

It fits in with the fact that the importance of nature for the respondents increased during the pandemic.
A good half (52 percent) say that nature has become more important or at least a little more important to them.
33 percent of young people also see a connection between the corona crisis and the state of nature and the environment.
36 percent think Corona is only a health issue, 31 percent are undecided.
For the youth nature awareness study, a good 1000 young people between the ages of 14 and 17 were interviewed on behalf of the Federal Environment Ministry and the BfN.
The data was collected in early summer 2020.
In autumn, the survey was expanded to include the topic of »Nature and Corona« and a further 1,000 young people between the ages of 14 and 24.
According to the information, the study is representative for Germany.
