(ANSA) - DUBAI, APRIL 27 - After a long wait, the 3D printed copy of Michelangelo's David was unveiled, which forms the heart of the Italian Pavilion at Expo Dubai, in a short ceremony with Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio, the Commissioner for Italy, Paolo Glisenti, the president of Fincantieri Giampiero Massolo, the mayor of Florence Dario Nardella and the Emirati authorities
"Looking at this reproduction of Michelangelo, millions of people who will pass through this pavilion will want to divide Italy, to come or return to Italy and this will help in this post-pandemic recovery to strengthen the tourist flows", said Di Maio, underlining the concentration of David's twin "art and history, but also science and technology".
Immediately before, the minister and Massolo launched - by cutting the ribbon that broke the bottles - the three ships, built by Fincantieri, which make up the roof of the Italian Pavilion: three inverted hulls covered in white, red and green, "the largest tricolor in the world".
"The hulls are the symbol of navigation - Massolo explained to ANSA - and with this we wanted to underline the idea of Italy on the move, of an Italy that is moving and that is up to date". (HANDLE).
