The investigators in Italy managed to strike the Mafia: within 24 hours, the anti-Mafia units arrested more than 150 suspects in several cities.
In the metropolitan area of Rome and other places, the investigators caught 51 suspects. They are said to have been involved in drug trafficking in the area of Tor Bella Monaca in the southeast of the capital. The Ansa news agency reported on Tuesday. The portal "Roma Today" reports that the gang is led by three brothers. They are said to have made a turnover of 600,000 euros per month. During the searches, among other things, twelve kilos of drugs and jewelry worth 180,000 euros were confiscated.
The financial police in the Lombard city of Pavia also reported 15 arrests or other measures in several cities.
The main focus was on alleged criminal gangs from the greater Milan area who were involved in the cocaine trade in Peru.
They said they had ties to the mafia organization 'Ndrangheta.
In addition, according to Ansa, investigators struck in Turin in Piedmont, in Ancona in the Marche region and in Cagliari in Sardinia for drug trafficking.
There were nine arrests during this action.
Police reported nearly 100 arrests Monday
The Italian police had already reported almost 100 arrests on Monday.
The investigators had taken action in Bari against members of the "Strisciuglio" clan, said the Carabinieri in the capital of the Apulia region.
According to media reports, the suspects are accused of, among other things, mafia association, extortion and drug trafficking.
The majority of those arrested should therefore be arrested.
Police had also taken similar allegations against the clan in late March.
In addition, the officials moved on Monday in 14 Italian provinces to operations against the Nigerian mafia Black Ax, as the investigators in the city of L'Aquila, around 120 kilometers east of Rome, announced.
The suspects are accused of drug trafficking, exploitation through prostitution, fraud and money laundering using cryptocurrencies, among other things.
Recently, Italian mafia investigators had repeatedly reported larger operations with dozens of arrests from all over Italy.
A major court case has been going on against the Calabrian 'Ndrangheta since January in the city of Lamezia Terme.
More than 300 alleged members of the very brutal Mafia are charged there.
