The Corona regulations change again with the Infection Protection Act.

This also has implications for employees: parents in particular should benefit.

Berlin - Different and constantly changing corona regulations: In the chaos of incidence figures, suggestions and legal changes, your head can be buzzing.

The new amendment to the Infection Protection Act lays down binding nationwide rules for stricter corona countermeasures from April 23.

That should make things easier.

“In order to finally achieve this, we have to bundle the strengths of the federal, state and local governments better than before.

That is why we are drawing the necessary conclusions, ”stressed Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) in Berlin last Friday.

Probably the most heatedly debated consequence is the nocturnal curfew.

But other corona regulations will also change with the nationwide decision, for example labor law regulations on rapid tests, home office and children's sick days.

The obligation to work from home is increased: Who can continue to go to work?

The obligation to offer home office is not completely new and is already part of the Corona occupational health and safety regulation. With the inclusion in the expanded Infection Protection Act, however, the pressure on employees and bosses should increase: Employees whose private environment enables them to work at home are now obliged to take advantage of this opportunity. Of course, provided that this is also operationally possible.

However, it is not a 100 percent duty, said a ministry spokeswoman for the

world

.

Informal justification is sufficient if employees want to continue going to the office.

If employees do not adhere to the rule and do not provide a reason, the employer continues to face high fines.

In an interview with

Münchner Merkur

, labor law specialist Wolfgang Wittek explains the details of the tightened home office requirement.

Obligation to test at the workplace: How often do employees have to be tested?

Nevertheless, there are countless professional groups who cannot work from home: This is where the regulations on compulsory testing come into play.

After the change had been debated for a long time, Labor Minister Hubertus Heil (SPD) prevailed.

Since April 20, employers have had to provide every employee with at least one free Corona test per week - at their own expense.

Whether a quick test, PCR test or self-test does not matter.

The law is now extended to two tests per week.

Here, too, employers face high fines for violations.

New corona rules on child sickness benefit: what are working parents entitled to?

If the incidence is above 165, face-to-face teaching in schools and regular care in day-care centers should be prohibited.

Exceptions are only provided for graduating classes and support classes.

This will mean that numerous schools will be closed again.

Parents have to look after their children at home.

In order to support working parents, the regulation of children's illness days has been expanded, the federal government announced on its website.

The regulation actually gives parents the opportunity to take time off if their child has to stay at home sick.

The child sickness benefit then compensates 90 percent of the lost net wages.

This entitlement now also applies if the child is not sick, but daycare centers and schools are closed or care is limited.

Infection Protection Act provides for more childhood illness days for parents: who has which entitlement?

In addition, the number of compensated days will be increased with the expansion of the Infection Protection Act: it will increase from 20 days per parent and child to 30 days in 2021.

The entire number of childhood illness days may also be applied to closings.

Eligible are legally insured working parents who are entitled to child sickness benefit themselves and whose child is under twelve, provided that there is no other person in the household who can look after the child.

For privately insured parents and parents entitled to subsidies, the law provides for a claim for compensation in accordance with Section 56 (1a) Infection Protection Act (IfSG).
