FLORENCE - The monumental complex of Santa Croce in Florence will reopen to the public for visits on Wednesday 12 May.
In the month of May, explains a note, the Music for Santa Croce project will also resume, which arises from the collaboration with the Orchestra of Tuscany.
The monumental complex will be open six days a week (except Tuesdays), from 11 to 17 (Sunday from 13 to 17). Visitors can choose between three historical-artistic itineraries: 'Giotto painter in Santa Croce and entrepreneur in Florence'; 'The power of images: the message of Francis'; 'Wealth and Poverty, Bankers and Saints'. Online booking, which can be accessed from the website www.santacroceopera.it, is mandatory - and free at this stage - for visits that take place on weekends. A novelty concerns the booking of visits by tourist guides who, from the site of Santa Croce,they will be able to connect to a specially dedicated portal. Tourists can be guided by the official Santa Croce App downloadable on smartphones which, on the occasion of the start of the celebrations for the 700th anniversary of Dante's death, has been enriched with a section dedicated to the Cenotaph of the Poet, which has recently , through the triplets of the Comedy, it projects the visitor towards some Dantesque places in the city. The reopening for visits falls on the day when 'Florence Nightingale' is celebrated all over the world, the founder of the modern nursing profession, born in Florence and remembered with a monument in the first cloister of the complex. Coinciding with the reopening, in the morning,an initiative dedicated to Nightingale will be held in the Upper Room by the National Federation of Nursing Professions Orders (Fnopi). (HANDLE).
