Munich - Sliced fruit packed in plastic and shrink-wrapped, a customer on the Internet was annoyed about this find yesterday.

“REWE_Supermarkt?

You can't really be serious ?! "

a grapefruit, a pear and an avocado as patterns.

But what exactly is the point behind it?

In times of the global climate crisis, this plastic packaging seems quite avoidable.

At the request of Merkur.de, the Rewe press spokesman, Thomas Bonrath, explains: “Obviously, fruit was cut up here for the purpose of presenting goods and vacuumed for hygiene.

They are not intended for sale, but should allow customers a simple look inside the fruit and a better assessment of the degree of ripeness and quality. ”The fact that fruit is presented sliced for these purposes is also widespread at weekly markets and in southern regions would be.

Rewe packaging: “Not that bad,” thinks another customer

Another Twitter user does not think the find is so bad.

But also added: So far, it has got along quite well without a pattern and that will probably not change in the future.

Well, I don't think that's so bad with a fruit.

It all seems to be about patterns.

Sometimes you like to know how ripe ripe is ;-) (Even if I have got along well without a pattern so far and will continue to do without a pattern)

Tell us your opinion on this way of presenting the goods:

What will change in Rewe stores in the future?

Press spokesman Bonrath does not know in which market the photo of the sample was taken. He was not informed in which markets the goods would be presented in this way. An instruction issued by the control center does not seem to be behind it.

That's good news. Because anyone who is bothered by the goods presented in this way can turn to the respective market and ask there in a friendly manner. What many do not know: The regional branch managers have a say in many things. Rewe supermarkets, for example, often offer regional products that the supermarket managers add to their range. That could be the freshly baked bread from the bakery around the corner or the handmade jam from a regional manufacturer. Customers will therefore find different products in different Rewe stores - and different ways of presenting the goods. Not everything can influence the regional management of a Rewe store, there are guidelines for many things. But with some things it is possible to respond to customer requests. As is so often the case in life, direct dialogue is often the best solution.

A new way of presenting goods is therefore not to be expected in the future. What could change, however, are the waiting times in Rewe stores. Because since Saturday, new access restrictions in retail have been in effect across Germany. But there are good tricks to escape the rush.
