  • TV in slow motion.

    From "Family Project"

"Family Project" is a docu-series with far-reaching aspirations to crack Israeliness and the changes that will apply to it over the coming years. For this purpose, it labels sectors, which it calls "the tribes that make up Israel in 2021." It introduces us to ten branded families, and intends to follow them for decades.

Last night, the broadcast of the first part of the series ended, which included three episodes and was filmed throughout the past year; During them, director David Deri examined differences between the project participants according to worldview, connection to religion, type of education, attitude towards and toward the state, politics, the army and neighbors. You will probably not be surprised by the conclusions, or by the fact that even the 6-year-olds of each family speak almost without understanding the same political, religious and social worldviews that their parents instilled in them from infancy.

Deri is one of the most talented social creators in the country, and if anyone is trying to translate the British "7 Up" project into Hebrew, then it's good that it's one like Deri, who is able to tell a deep story, move and lead his characters just as he wants the story to develop.

The only problem right now is that there is no way to criticize the "families" because it's like looking at half a job.

It is not by chance that Deri seeks to hear certain things, is interested in dreams for the future or in perceptions of reality that can change over time.

The "Family Project" will only be possible to look back.

This is a television in very slow motion, which purports to crack the people of Israel for us, and at least according to the 2021 season states that we are a labeled country, built on prejudices and feelings of discrimination and therefore unable to contain the other.

We have a bright future.
