Radio France journalists have grasped the interest of the genre and will be offering a weekly column on May 1 dealing with current events in the discipline.

A short program, about 2 minutes, published at the end of the morning every Saturday.

Its goal: to decipher news for novices which has gained in importance since the professionalization of the sector.

The first scheduled subject, a decoding of the semi-final of a League of Legends tournament, the most played game in the world.

"

The idea is to hook our listeners with one news per week, and to help them understand what is going on in a didactic way

", explains Jules de Kiss, journalist for

France Info

specializing in video games.

A podcast geared towards connoisseurs

The news information offer is not the only point announced by Radio France, which also intends to dredge the 7.8 million French people already consuming e-sport, according to the France Esports barometer. To save their listening time, a monthly podcast "

Le Club esport

" dealing with substantive subjects will be offered on the web. This public of insiders is more interested in "

qualitative material

", according to the former swimming champion Yannick Agnel, sports director of an e-sports team which will give his voice to the project.

In order to ensure that it has enough content geared towards connoisseurs, the podcast is run in cooperation with the sports newspaper

L'Équipe

, which sends its e-sport expert, Paul Arrivé.

This rise of Radio France comes after a context of pandemic putting e-sport on the front of the stage.
