Acting Commissioner for Public Health, Dr. Sharon Elrai Price, today (Thursday) referred to the detection of local cases of the Indian variant of the corona virus in schools, and clarified that educational institutions where the strain was detected will have to undergo sampling to prevent an outbreak.
"Even if it is not currently known in schools about verified - the combination of the presence of a potentially dangerous variant, the fact that there have been recent outbreaks, and the knowledge from the epidemic so far that children are asymptomatic in 70% of cases, requires rapid sampling in these schools "To make sure there is no hidden illness," Elrai said.
Elrai explained that "the situation is especially dangerous in light of the fact that the children are not vaccinated and stay together for a long time in enclosed spaces" and added, "If we can not sample as required we will have to consider closing the school or part of it".

As you may recall, the Ministry of Health updated this morning that the National Genome Flooring System has identified 41 cases of Indian variant, of which among 24 are returning from abroad (21 foreigners) and 17 cases in the community (some of which have not been linked abroad).
Of all the verified, only four are vaccinated, and the rest are not vaccinated.
Among the verified are five children from different schools from the Shavilim schools in Pardes Hanna, Dekel Vilnai and Tzemach Hasadeh in Ma'ale Adumim, Keshet in Ashdod and Beit Yosef in Holon.
As you may recall, Pardes Hanna made headlines this week following the outbreak of corona in schools amid parents' refusal to get vaccinated.
