2021-05-02T15:11:43.079Z

SNCF's low cost service will soon arrive in Spain. Travelers will thus be able to take advantage of advantageous rates on their journeys.

The launch of the Ouigo offer in Spain follows the agreement signed on April 13, 2020 between the SNCF and its Spanish equivalent El Administrador de infraestructuras railsiarias (Adif). After an investment of 600 million euros,

the deployment of the service is scheduled for Monday, May 10

. A date confirmed by the Ville Rail & Transport site, in an article published last Friday. For now, five round trips per day are planned across the Pyrenees, and which will allow travelers to reach Madrid and Barcelona at a ridiculous cost. Zaragoza and Tarragona were also mentioned by the Spanish branch of the carrier, headed by Hélène Valenzuela. It would also appear that this expansion was at the origin of the creation of 1,300 skilled jobs.

SNCF: Ouigo soon available in other cities in Spain?

SNCF's ambitions do not stop at this simple link between the big Spanish cities. Especially since it could soon have competition, with the launch of low cost Renfe tickets on June 23. In the future, Ouigo Spain would like to extend its network to the tourist towns of Valencia, Cordoba, Seville, Malaga and Alicante. To ensure its service, Ouigo will be able to count on 14 Alstom Euroduplex trains. These have a capacity of 1,018 seats, spread over two-story cars. Children under 3 will be able to board for free, while reduced rates will apply for those under 13. As for adults, they should be able to travel from 9 euros.
