After the death of four residents of a facility for disabled people in Potsdam, the public prosecutor applied for an arrest warrant for manslaughter.
"The accused will be brought before the judge at the Potsdam District Court today," said Chief Public Prosecutor Wilfried Lehmann.
At first he did not want to say anything about the details because of the ongoing investigation.
The charge can be extended to murder if murder criteria such as base motives or insidiousness are met.
"The victims are currently undergoing a forensic examination," said the chief prosecutor.
"We don't have any information about the motive or the specific process." The accused had not yet made any statements.
According to the investigators, the 51-year-old employee is said to have deliberately killed four residents of a facility for the disabled and seriously injured another woman.
The seriously injured person is also a resident of the home for adults with physical and multiple disabilities, according to the diaconal organization Oberlinhaus.
According to SPIEGEL information, the accused has been working as a nursing assistant at the Oberlinhaus association and looking after patients for more than 20 years.
According to initial investigations, the woman reportedly reported to her husband on Wednesday evening that he had killed several people at work.
The husband then immediately alerted the police.
Prosecutor Lehmann only said about it.
"The police were informed and found the bodies."
