Anti-Covid vaccination: shocking proposals from the citizen collective

2021-05-03T12:20:21.197Z

EXCLUSIVE. After months of work, 31 women and men, drawn at random, submitted a report to improve immunization. Here are their pro

Restore confidence, make the population want to be immunized… Since mid-January, 31 citizens, drawn by lot, have been working discreetly on these questions.

Their names are Franck, Lilya, Philippe, Gilles… Some are cautious about vaccination, others are convinced.

Together, they drew up a detailed 42-page report made on Tuesday to Alain Fischer, “Mr. Vaccin”, under the leadership of the economic, social and environmental council which steers the system.

Severe findings, concrete, innovative examples ... We have analyzed their recommendations, which we are revealing.

More clarity

Who can get vaccinated, where, when, how to make an appointment?

And who does what between pharmacists and doctors?

The citizen collective advocates greater clarity, relying on "information that does not change overnight", to allow professionals to organize themselves.

And, he said to the government, we must not give the impression of being unfair: "Beware of purely political decisions not understood by the population," he warns.

The finding is severe.

These decisions “discredit the state”.

Immunization telephone numbers, such as 0 810 130 000, should give "clear" information.

Small additional tackle, at the end of the line, the advisers must be "competent", "which does not always appear to be the case depending on the lifts".

And let's not just talk about vaccination, what about treatments?

If they are not effective, that they cause complications, "it must be said".

Speaking to the French

The report is clear: the anger is great against the government, if all communication comes from the authorities, "it may be badly perceived".

Between the omnipresent interventions of politicians and experts who contradict each other in the media, we get lost.

Let's give the floor to the French, encourage the collective.

Why not launch a program in which the government would draw lots of citizens' questions and answer them?

Or even make a documentary on vaccinated patients, recounting their experience, how they lived it, while playing down the drama.

Or provide continuous feedback from residents through questionnaires at the town hall?

“Being well informed and understanding scientific information is a key condition for

achieve collective and individual immunity ”, we can read in the report.

Operation "All concerned"

First, a large number of the population

does not even know that it is a priority.

Second, those who cannot yet be vaccinated feel “left behind”.

Of course, the 50, 40, 30 year olds are not yet eligible, but they will be tomorrow, so “we recommend that they get the message out now”.

The risk is that "there are then too many doses and that this summer, we do not find takers", anticipates the report.

How to raise awareness?

Citizens see things in a big way: mail sent by social security, poster campaign in transport, in classrooms, with this message: "What if it was coming soon?"

»Information brochures in doctors' waiting rooms, TV spot, on the E = M 6 model with health professionals, starting with" hello, we will explain the path to vaccination "and hiring d 'agents trained in transport.

And if we counted on hairdressers, restaurateurs, booksellers to convey the right messages, suggests the collective.

They could be trained for half a day by chambers of commerce, agriculture and professional associations.

Young “ambassadors”

To target this population, very affected by the consequences of the epidemic and less by the virus, it is necessary to know how to reassure them.

By involving them in the campaign, by evoking the perceived benefit,

the possibility of traveling, the return to a more normal life, the resumption of the holidays, of the university in face-to-face.

The collective is proposing an advertising campaign, organized by “youth ambassadors”.

Others would be directly on university campuses to talk about vaccination, challenge students, inform them, respond to "poison".

“Do not forget the young people, give them transparent information, that's what they need, explains Lilya, one of the 25-year-old citizens, very invested.

This summer, it will be too late, they will be on vacation and their thinking will not be built, that is why integrating them now is essential.

"

The sting will come to you

The collective repeats it, we must not leave anyone behind.

Why not vaccinate in the markets, in medical deserts?

And the most precarious, during marauding?

As for raising the awareness of people who speak poorly French or who are illiterate, the collective is betting on TV campaigns, without text, in the form of comics.

Finally, in remote areas such as Guyana or Reunion, "a helicopter could allow doctors to go directly to the inhabitants".

Communication on AstraZeneca, the mistake not to be reproduced

“We did all the wrong things”, say the citizens of AstraZeneca.

First, changing the name of this unloved vaccine, renamed "Vaxzevria", was not a good idea.

“We feel cheated”, say the citizens.

Concerning its use, the collective asks the countries of the European Union to adopt a common position concerning the age limit of AstraZeneca because “the cacophony generates suspicion”.

“We heard everything and its opposite,” regrets Franck, 30, member of the collective, initially worried about vaccination and reassured today.

The report evokes a communication on the side effects "disproportionate", stop to the alarmist speeches, place to positive information.

A poster on the benefits of vaccination and appointment scheduling could be put up everywhere, also in building lobbies and businesses. Slogans have been imagined: "I choose life, I get vaccinated", or even "A small bite for Man, a big step for freedom".
