(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, MAY 03 - The European Commission welcomes Parliament's approval of the new Life program for the environment and climate action, with 5.4 billion euros in the next seven years, the most ambitious climate and environmental program in the EU.
The Commissioner for the Environment, Oceans and Fisheries, VirginijusSinkevičius, thanked the Eurochamber and recalled that Life "will help us to implement important initiatives of the EU's Green Deal, for a Europe free of toxic substances, circular and climate neutral" . The Commission will ensure that the program involves the Member States with the lowest participation so far. In the past seven years, Italy has benefited more than any other member state of the Life program, with 714 partners for a total of 203 million euros in 217 projects on biodiversity and climate.
