In the countdown to the announcement of the new restrictions that will govern from the weekend, the Government confirmed
561 new deaths
from coronavirus in Argentina.
It is the
highest
daily figure
since the start of the pandemic.
In the last 24 hours,
another 26,053 infections
were reported
.
The number of severe covid-19 patients admitted to intensive care increased again and there are now
5,317
.
Most of the fatal cases reported correspond to the
Province of Buenos Aires (335), the City (60)
, Mendoza (42), Córdoba (19), Santa Fe (13), Corrientes (13), Tucumán (12) and Entre Ríos (10).
The number of 561 deaths known today surpassed the two records that had been set last week: 537 and 557, on Thursday the 22nd and Friday the 23rd respectively.
In the first wave, the highest record had been 515, in October 2020.
The data comes from the daily part published by the Ministry of Health this afternoon, based on the information provided by the provinces in the last 24 hours.
Last week, the country had reached an average of
23,824 daily cases
.
It was the highest weekly average of the entire pandemic and marked a significant jump from the first wave: in all of 2020, 18,500 positives were not reached in one day.
However, between Monday and Wednesday there were almost
9% fewer
cases when compared to the same days of the previous week.

This Thursday the last batch of vaccines contracted from Sinopharm will arrive in the country.
It is about one million doses, which are transported by an Aerolineas Argentinas flight.
