"Total millions to the Burmese junta": this is the front page headline of the French newspaper Le Monde, adding that "the French oil group, which exploits a gas field off the Burmese coast, has implemented a revenue sharing system with the generals in power "in Burma.
According to documents consulted by the newspaper, "hundreds of millions of dollars are being diverted from the state coffers through a company registered in Bermuda". And again: "Dissuaded by their hierarchy to join the protest movement, Burmese employees of Total are appealing to their employer to stop financing the military dictatorship".
