62% of Italians, in the last year, have ordered international food delivery and 91% have opted for Chinese or Japanese cuisine. This is what emerges from a survey, posted online, by American Pistachio Growers, a non-profit association that brings together Californian pistachio growers. The survey relates to the change in habits in terms of food delivery and take-away food with the forced closure of restaurants in the last year due to the pandemic. The analysis shows that for Italians, food continues to remain a moment of escape despite "the ritual of going out for lunch / dinner has been blocked by the pandemic". In particular, 64% of respondents to the survey stated that in 2020/21, in order not to give up on culinary entertainment, they used delivery much more often, compared to the years preceding the spread of Covid-19. 76% consider delivery a moment of cheating, preferring to request it for dinner (88% of respondents) instead of lunch and choosing foods that are more caloric than healthy meals.
