Bad news for those of you who already have your eye on the PS5.

The console will continue to be hard to come by.

At the moment, the market for the PlayStation5 looks anything but good.

PlayStation fans have been waiting for a chance to finally get hold of the coveted console for months.

Some might accept the brazen offer of an airport shop in Istanbul * for this.

Perhaps out of sheer desperation, a buyer has been found for the disgusting console in the world.

But even in Germany fans can get lucky every now and then.

It was only recently that a console replenishment was announced at MediaMarkt *.

However, the consoles were quickly sold out here too.

PS5 scarcity: no end in sight

One of the reasons for the shortage of PS5 consoles is that production is lagging behind.

This is because an important part cannot be delivered: the chip.

Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger

is said to have announced that, in his opinion, it will be years before the shortage of this chip can be made up.

One of the reasons for this is that the chip is not only built into the PlayStation.

Other technology products must also be equipped with a chip.

The factories are currently fully utilized.

Chip shortage: building a new chip factory as a last resort

According to reports from

PC Games

, a

new production facility is to be

created.

However, this costs a mere 10 billion US dollars, i.e. over 8 billion euros.

Intel is apparently planning to create a joint project with the EU - financed by state aid.

The EU should then contribute a little over 6 billion euros.

Plans about this have not yet been made public.

PC Games,

however, states that Germany, among others, could be discussed as a location.

The background to the project seems to be that Intel wants to make itself less dependent.

In particular from certain regions, such as Asia.

There, the US shares for the past 25 years are clearly healthy.

While it was once 37 percent, it is now only 12 percent.

And the

semiconductor industry

is also to be supported by aid from the US government.

Funds of up to 42 billion euros are planned here.

These will then be invested in building new and upgrading existing factories in the United States.
