(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 04 - A man armed with a machete today entered a municipal nursery school in Saudades, in the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina, hitting children and adults. Military police reported it to local media. At least three deaths are confirmed: two children and a teacher; another is seriously injured. The assailant was arrested on the spot.
According to the police, the attack took place at a center for early childhood education, intended for children up to 3 years old. The assailant entered the building and "hit with a machete-like weapon" teachers and pupils.
He was arrested on the spot and taken to hospital, they added. "One of the teachers is alive, in serious condition, another teacher and two confirmed dead pupils", wrote the police in a note, specifying that an investigation is being carried out. (HANDLE).
