The organizers of the Cannes Film Festival did not wait for Emmanuel Macron's deconfinement plan to believe it. But what seemed to be unreasonable optimism until recently became a highly probable scenario on Friday April 30. The President of the Republic indicated the date of June 30 as the final stage of a reopening (holding of events of more than 1000 people outdoors and indoors with sanitary pass, end of the curfew and gauge limits). While this return to near-normal depends on the local health situation, it should allow most summer festivals to be held. Cannes is part of the lot. Usually stalled in the second half of May, the world cinema raout had played it safe and postponed the meeting from July 6 to 17.

It could therefore well be that Cannes is not canceled for the second consecutive year and the films are jostling at the gate.
