Thank God, this vaccination center has brought a little movement into the taxi business.

«

Welcome to Hamburg's only legal mass event.

Jakob Seidensticker, DJ and musician

"So, let's go around the corner here."

There is only one vaccination center in Hamburg, but it is the largest in Germany.

AstraZeneca, Moderna or Biontech are sprayed more than 8,000 times a day in the A3 exhibition hall.

At the only exit, relatives of vaccinated people wait for their friends or relatives to return.

The mood at the reunion: relaxed.

Son of a vaccinated

person "We'll make the party fist, Mutti!"

»What do we do now?

We're celebrating now. "

Son of a vaccinated person

"No, we are not allowed to celebrate, mom."

Vaccinated

»I also celebrate alone.

With my cola. "

Now I'm waiting for our Greeks to open it.

Nice gyros on the table and a beer.

«

Jule Böhm is waiting for her mother - the teacher still needs a lot of patience before her own vaccination.

Jule Böhm, teacher

»

Unfortunately, two weeks before I had my vaccination, I got Corona.

I would have preferred the vaccination, even weeks after that I still had a lot of panting while cycling and all that.

I would have liked to save myself that.

«

For those who have recovered from the corona virus, the Standing Vaccination Commission recommends vaccination at least six months after infection.

Böhm's turn in autumn.

Then all Germans will have received a vaccination offer.

In the Hamburg vaccination center, injections are made from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week.

For Mustafa Kaya, the vaccination center is the salvation.

Actually, Kaya is transferring limousines.

»

Because of lockdown, because of the pandemic, we had nothing to drive.

And then a boss thought: Let's set up something like this at the vaccination center.

«

Kaya has been working here since March.

Aprons instead of suits and ties, no more fat Benz, but rolls.

Mustafa Kaya, bread seller

»

Yes, they work best, normal Franz works best.

«

Kaya's car is at the main entrance.

Few people who have been vaccinated have the peace and quiet for a coffee before the appointment - but afterwards they do, and some even celebrate a little.

Mustafa Kaya, bread seller

»

I've seen it several times that people here get coffee or Coke and toast because they have been vaccinated.

«

Before the vaccination appointment, many vaccinated people are not in a celebratory mood, but excited: The appointment at the vaccination center can quickly become overwhelming, especially for older people who have had very little contact for a long time.

That is why there is the Care Team, young people who receive, greet, question and accompany the vaccinated people.

Many from the event industry work in the care team.

Also the DJ and musician Jakob Seidensticker.

Jakob Seidensticker, DJ and musician

»

Seidensticker my name.

I'll drive a few meters further down the street.

«

A total of almost 900 employees work in the vaccination center in two shifts a day.

Jakob Seidensticker, DJ and musician

»

Well, the atmosphere is really good.

Especially at this point in time to support what concerns the vaccination campaign, to do that, simply inspires.

"Emergency team is listening."

Nina Streit, event manager

»I have a walker at the taxi exit.

Could anyone of you pick that up? "

Nina Streit is one of the coordinators of the care team.

Nina Streit, event manager

»

Has that cleared up with the taxi driver?

«

Without a pandemic, Streit would now be working at a real festival.

But the 24-year-old completed her apprenticeship as an event manager in 2020 of all things, when everything turned out differently.

With her job at the vaccination center, however, she is getting through the difficult times pretty well.

Nina Streit, event manager

»

It's like a small festival, you can compare it.

Well, you do the same work with other people.

Well, thank goodness I don't get any beer poured over here, I would say.

«

You are already in your little vaccination center bubble here, I would say.

You're in a really good mood here and you can switch off a bit.

We are of course also in the position to have a relatively large number of social contacts.

So, unlike the others, we can of course talk a lot and I think a lot of people are grateful that we are allowed to have so much contact that you can escape a bit from the boring everyday life.

«

With thousands of vaccinations a day, things get tight every now and then.

The appointments are strictly timed, small delays inside lead to traffic jams outside.

»

It downright shocked me.

I'm so close to going backwards and saying: I'm not doing this to myself now.

«

There can't be enough going on for the taxi drivers.

What used to be the airport is now the vaccination center for them - at least a little.

Secure orders and rather short waiting times make the location attractive.

And if there is little going on, ...

Mohammad Omar Azimi, taxi driver

»

What should you do?

Otherwise with the Internet, with Facebook, makes you sick, right?

But chess is going well right now.

«

Many people who have been vaccinated come with their own car - and there are very few parking spaces and lots of stop & go right at the vaccination center. It is particularly often narrow on this driveway to the otherwise rather deserted camp road. The pedestrian exit for all vaccinated persons meets the entrance to the parking lot, which is exclusively reserved for people with disabilities. And that doesn't seem to be understood by everyone who is looking for a parking space under the pressure of a vaccination - despite additional, extra-large signs. In the end, everyone will get their syringe today, even if they are a little late. It is a special day: On April 28th, more than a million people in Germany will be vaccinated against Covid-19 for the first time in one day. Also the mother of Jule Böhm.

»I'm finished.

Splendid.

Super.

I'm going to have a coffee now.

In the street.

No, I'm really happy.

So I think it was time to get going a little more.

Keep your fingers crossed that you will soon be vaccinated. "

The vaccination center should be in operation at least until the end of July 2021.

Then another 700,000 vaccine doses could have been administered in the exhibition hall alone.
