A large tent, belonging to the Circo Rodas and installed near the Monument to the Flag of Rosario, will become one of the coronavirus testing centers.
Although the strategy that will be applied in the place has not yet been defined, as confirmed to
Clarín
from the Santa Fe Ministry of Health, the decision to use that space to control possible infected people has already been made.
The Health portfolio
accepted an offer
from the circus holders to use the tent, which had been disabled for a few days, when the province restricted -among other measures- the possibility of organizing shows to avoid the increase in infections.
The Circo Rodas had its last performance in Rosario on April 23.
The place is going to join the territorial testing centers.
There are currently three in Rosario and some others would join, in addition to the space offered by Rodas.
“We know the moment that we are living with the pandemic and I hear all the time in the media that tests were needed.
So this is
our selfless contribution
”,
the owner of the venture, Marcelo Lanza
, assured the newspaper
La Capital
.
The businessman explained that the initiative came from a group of artists and that he joined.
The circus
arrived in the city in March
and offered its last performance on April 23.
Although he expected to stay offering functions for a couple of months, the new measures announced by the province
put his stay in doubt
.
The site could become one of the largest testing centers in the country.
Ministry personnel are already working in the place doing some tests and between Thursday and Friday
the strategy
could
be defined
so that next week it begins to function fully.
“We don't work on this, we work as artists.
This is
a donation,
”said Lanza to rule out that he would give up the tent to compensate for the losses caused by the inability to perform shows.
“We are powerless because in Rosario the only thing that is closed is the circus, theaters, cinemas and little else.
The rest, with time restrictions, works normally.
We could work and we are not getting it
.
Of course, we are a very thin thread and we do not have a voice to be heard ”, lamented the head of the circus.
The businessman also confirmed that the tent will stay as long as the health situation requires.
"The tent and we are going to be here firm," he
assured.
