(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 05 - GeorgeClooney, the young heartthrob "Doug" Ross of "ER", the swashbuckler of "Ocean's Eleven", the athletic secret agent of "Syriana", the plush testimonial, turns 60 on May 6 of global coffee. Born in Lexington in 1961, he was 'rejected' at the audition for "Thelma and Louise": Ridley Scott called him 5 times but in the end he gave the part to the equally unknown Brad Pitt.
Ironically, since then the two have remained the best friends and as a couple they guarantee the success of a film from the start.
The real stroke of luck comes in 1994 and is the NBC series "ER - frontline doctors" which will continue with a worldwide audience for 15 seasons until 1999.
