The Buenos Aires government

prohibited

this Wednesday that the district pharmacies sell the rapid tests to detect the coronavirus that the Anmat had approved in mid-April.

He did so after pointing out that these tests "are for

exclusive professional use

" and that they should be used in clinical analysis laboratories.

This resolution of the Government of Axel Kicillof was made official through the publication in the Official Gazette of Buenos Aires this Wednesday.

In addition, the new rule indicates that the decision "will be in effect as long as the declaration of the state of

health emergency

lasts

" throughout the province due to the coronavirus.

In the provisions of the provision, the provincial Executive recalled that "all the tests for covid-19 that are currently available are for exclusive professional use and must be carried out in

adequate conditions and facilities

, therefore they are exclusively for sale to clinical analysis laboratories ".

He also pointed out "that it is clearly regulated in the covid-19 sanitary procedures, that any result

must be uploaded in the SISA

(Integrated System of Argentine Health Information) by a registered professional who is the holder of a laboratory authorized by the competent authority" .

"Along these lines, one of the objectives of the SISA is to create the

Single Citizen's File

as the central axis for the registration of health information, which obviously could be violated if the buyer of the product performs the test himself," it was pointed out.

The test went on sale in pharmacies after the ANMAT gave it a free pass on April 14 for sale without a prescription in pharmacies.

At the beginning, the price was 2,600 pesos and the batch of 20,000 units sold out almost immediately.

allows to know the result in 10 minutes

with a sensitivity level of 96.8%.

In any case, it was clarified from the beginning that in case of negative, a possible presence of the virus in the person tested should not be ruled out.

"It is for professional use but it gives the possibility, for the first time, that the person buys it and goes to a laboratory to swab at a lower cost than the testing", had said Alejandro Mansilla, managing partner of the importer Vyam Group SRL, in This is in line with the arguments that the Province finally used to cancel the test in pharmacies.
