(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 06 - A long, "exhausting job, the most difficult album of the eight I have achieved so far, because there are seven other to deal with. But I am not interested in beautiful discs, rather those who have soul and authentic feeling ". Four years after "Prisoner 709", Caparezza is ready to return with a new studio album, out on 7 May for Polydor / Universal Music, entitled Exuvia, a term that indicates what remains of the exoskeleton after the moult of an insect. "When I look at my videos, when I listen to my songs, when I reread my lyrics I always think that they no longer belong to me, like an exuvia". The record celebrates the rite of passage, the personal transformation of the Apulian rapper, his new skin, the journey from the past to the present to re-tie the threads and absolve oneself.
"I managed to make peace with the past - says Caparezza, who presented his album to the press with a virtual walk in an imaginary forest, which will be available to fans in the next few days -. I faced some things as I had never done before. that I haven't lived very well. " Like the experience of Mikimix, the project preceding that of Caparezza, which saw him make his debut in Sanremo in 1997. "Perhaps the most blatant exuvia of my artistic life. For a long time I was ashamed of Mikimix. It was a wrong departure, a step fake from which I struggled to recover. I was born Italian rap, but I was going in a different direction from the others. If I'm here, however, I also have to that lopsided step and after more than 20 years I have the right to make peace with the past, also towards the future ".
Exuvia contains 14 tracks written, composed, produced by Caparezza and mixed by Chris Lord-Alge. (HANDLE).
