US corporation Coca-Cola brings an alcoholic drink onto the market for the first time: “Topo Chico Hard Seltzer”.
The beverage manufacturer wants to conquer a new segment with it.
Beverage manufacturer Coca-Cola * tries now and then to break new ground with innovative ideas and products - sometimes successfully, sometimes less.
In 1984, for example, he brought out the "New Coke" with a different recipe, whereupon the outcry from consumers was so great that it was quickly rowed back.
In contrast, the Light and Zero variants have now established themselves for the well-known soft drinks Fanta, Sprite and Cola.

With
immediate
effect
, the group is also selling an
alcoholic drink
in Germany for the first time
under the name “
Topo Chico Hard Seltzer
”
.
With this, the manufacturer wants to make a name for itself among mixed alcoholic drinks.
The new product is a mix of carbonated mineral water and alcohol to which fruit flavors are added.
The “Topo Chico Hard Seltzer” with 4.2 percent by volume will be available in three flavors in 0.33 liter cans.

Alcoholic drink with flavors: Coca-Cola is not the first to offer it
The Coca-Cola novelty has been on the shelves in Latin America since the end of last year and is said to be particularly popular there among younger people. It remains to be seen whether it will establish itself as an alcoholic mixed drink in Germany as well. Coca-Cola is not the first company with a hard seltzer product on the German market: Most recently, the
Krombacher Group brought
the successful US brand “White Claw” to Germany. And
discounter Lidl also
wants to get involved in the hard seltzer segment and has been offering the “Sunrise Hard Seltzer” in its branches since September 2020.
US giant Coca-Cola now wants to follow suit and has started
selling “Topo Chico Hard Seltzer”
in
selected European countries
, including Austria and Germany, since the last week of April.
It remains to be seen when the brand will be widely available on all shelves and will probably depend on how the product is received by German consumers.
