Did the head of the Chancellery Helge Braun's dissertation come about in terms of “good scientific practice”?
Or are there irregularities in connection with other texts?
After Braun himself announced on Twitter that he had asked the responsible Justus Liebig University (JLU) for a corresponding review, the university commented on the procedure.
The allegations are investigated.
A "standardized procedure will enter the next phase according to the relevant statutes," the JLU said on Thursday.
The university confirmed media reports that an "individual" had brought allegations to them at the end of January.
The allegations therefore relate to the relationship between Braun's doctoral thesis entitled "Influence of intraoperative tachycardias on postoperative prognosis" and a previously published publication in which Braun appears as a co-author.
It also deals with possible overlaps with other fonts.
Further details are not given.
First, the ombudsperson of the university subjected the matter to an initial examination, writes the JLU in a message.
The preliminary investigation was then handed over to the chairman of the commission to ensure good scientific practice in February.
This had carried out a preliminary examination procedure.
The person concerned, here Helge Braun, will be given the opportunity to comment on the allegations.
The Minister of the Chancellery has already submitted this statement.
The preliminary examination in the procedure was thus concluded in April.
According to the university, further steps are now being taken by the commission.
The university leaves open when a result can be expected.
In principle, efforts are being made to carry out such procedures "quickly".
The university clearly shows that impatient inquiries are of no avail for the time being.
In ongoing proceedings, "in principle, no interim results in the matter are disclosed."

Re-examination: University gives Giffey the opportunity to comment on doctoral thesis
Braun had submitted his doctoral thesis in 2007 after studying human medicine at the University of Giessen.
Until 2009 he worked as an assistant doctor at the University Hospital Gießen and Marburg.
He then moved into the Bundestag as a direct candidate.
In the "Gießener Allgemeine Zeitung" the Union politician rejected the allegations in connection with his dissertation: "I am convinced of the scientific value of my work and of the medical knowledge gained through it."
In recent years, German politicians have repeatedly come under suspicion of cheating on their doctoral theses.
A further examination of the doctoral thesis by Federal Family Minister Franziska Giffey was recently completed.
Before the FU publishes the result, Giffey should be allowed to speak to the university.
