(ANSA) - WASHINGTON, 05 MAY - SpaceX's prototype Starship rocket successfully landed in the Texas base on its fifth attempt, after impressive explosions had been recorded in the previous four.
This test flight represented a big win for Elon Musk's space company, who tweeted "Nominal Spaceship Landing!".
'Nominal' means normal in the context of space flight.
The video of this latest attempt was broadcast indirectly by SpaceX - and is still visible - on its official social channels. The execution was not entirely perfect: a small fire enveloped the base of the rocket shortly after landing. The host who told the indirect web event, John Insprucker, explained that this phenomenon "is not unusual because it is using methane", adding that the engineers are still struggling with some design problems. The flames were quickly extinguished with a fire hydrant. (HANDLE).
