South Carolina sets out to resurrect the firing squad.
The US State Chamber has passed a law that provides that in the absence of the mix of drugs for lethal injection, the condemned to death will be able to choose in addition to the electric chair (option already provided) also the shooting.
The provision has already been approved by the Senate where a new passage will be required before the governor's signature.
South Carolina would thus become the fourth US state to provide for the use of the firing squad, along with Mississippi, Oklahoma and Utah.
