A sixth grader shot three people at her school in Idaho on Thursday.
The girl "took a handgun out of her backpack and fired several shots," said Jefferson County Sheriff Steve Anderson.
The three injured were taken to a hospital, but their lives are not in danger.
According to the authorities, a teacher disarmed the student at Rigby Middle School and held her until the police arrived, who took her into custody.
The girl is said to be between eleven and twelve years old.
Local law enforcement and the US Federal FBI are investigating.
Firearms are widespread in the United States, with fatal shootings happening again and again.
All efforts for a stricter gun law have so far failed due to the resistance of the powerful gun lobby.
US President Joe Biden had announced a new attempt to curb gun violence in the country.
