The film is a tribute to
Europe Day which is celebrated on 9 May
.
This initiative, explains Edoardo De Angelis, "stems from an event of the European Parliament and the European Commission held on December 18, 2020 at the MAXXI Auditorium, a conference on current events in a united Europe entitled just like the song written together with Francis Hence the idea of continuing on the 'institutional' line by asking the Istituto Luce Cinecittà, to which I owe a lot of gratitude, the selection and concession of historical films for the creation of a video that would allow me to represent, with singing and the words of the song, the unfolding of the events that preceded and then accompanied the construction of a united Europe ".
De Angelis explains the lyrics of his song: "It took some time for an extraordinarily happy idea like that of a united Europe to make its way through discord, divisions, blood, up to the tragic experiences of the world wars of the century. last, racial persecutions, concentration camps. Reconciliation - adds the singer-songwriter - has generated for many decades a stable peace and a common work in favor of a civil and shared culture of exchange, acceptance, equality, freedom. it took some time ...
