Japan extends state of emergency, 80 days before the Olympics

 has extended the state of emergency dictated by the pandemic covid-19, less than 80 days from the Tokyo Olympics.

Already at the end of April, Japan had restored the state of emergency in four departments including that of Tokyo in the face of a resurgence of the pandemic from Covid-19 and is now being extended by three weeks until May 31, Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga confirmed. .

The decision concerns Tokyo and the three prefectures of Osaka, Kyoto and Hyogo (west), as well as two other departments, those of Aichi and Fukuoka.
