At the weekend, many people in Germany can finally get their T-shirt out of the closet.
"A significant change in the weather is on the horizon," said the meteorologist Florian Bilgeri from the German Weather Service (DWD) in Offenbach.
The cool temperatures say goodbye, on Sunday it can be up to 30 degrees warm.
The DWD announces the highest temperatures for the Upper Rhine.
It had snowed in Potsdam and Berlin this Friday.
According to the DWD in Potsdam, this is not a consequence of climate change, but a normal weather phenomenon: a low moving eastward brings very moist and cold air with it.
Air moving from Spain and North Africa to Germany will provide the contrast program on Sunday.
On Saturday it will be significantly warmer than this May with values of up to 21 degrees.
In the south, the forecast is »clear to cloudy«, especially in the south-east, longer, sunny sections are possible.
Otherwise, thick clouds gather in the course of the day, rain spreads from the Eifel and Rothaargebirge in the south to the North Sea northeast.
Heavy thunderstorms with risk of storms
Also on Sunday it is cloudy in the northwest and north, there it can be thunderstorm in the evening.
In the rest of the republic it is sunny and dry with temperatures between 25 and 30 degrees.
The wind blows only a little.
Even at night, with temperatures between 7 and 15 degrees, it remains well away from the frost area.
However, it can continue to rain and thunderstorms in the west and northwest.
The weather there calms down on Monday, but the many clouds in the sky remain;
at times it rains.
In the rest of the country it remains sunny at first.
During the day cumulus clouds accumulate, especially in the southwest and in the middle.
There is a risk of strong thunderstorms, which will gradually spread to the east and south-east.
"There is a strong foehn in the Alps," announced meteorologist Bilgeri.
In the eastern half of the republic it is warm again in summer with 24 to 30 degrees, further west a new cold front ensures values between 17 and 24 degrees.
In the western low mountain ranges it can get even cooler with prolonged rain.
