While violent clashes between Palestinian protesters and police continued for the second consecutive night in East Jerusalem with about 100 injured among the first, a rocket was launched from Gaza in southern Israel.

There is no news of damage or casualties.

In response - the army said - the air force hit a Hamas military post in the Strip.

The clashes last night took place in the esplanade of the Mosques (where 90,000 faithful gathered), at the Damascus gate (one of the entrances to the Old City) and in the Sheikh Jarrah district. The esplanade in front of the Wailing Wall (which is located near the Esplanade of the Mosques) has been cleared to prevent the Jewish faithful from being reached by stone-throwing. Huge police departments are also deployed today in East Jerusalem, particularly in the Old City. There was also high tension along the demarcation line with the Gaza Strip after yesterday's incendiary balloons were thrown towards Israeli agricultural fields, where they set fire.
