(ANSA) - WASHINGTON, 09 MAY - The American naturalized German star architect Helmut Jahn died in Illinois, the victim of a bicycle accident. He was 81 years old.
Known for his postmodern steel and glass structures, he graduated in 1965 in Monacao, then moved to Chicag to study at the Illinois Institute of Technology. His name had begun to make itself known in the 1970s and 1980s when he signed buildings in Chicago, including the ThompsonCenter and the United Airlines terminal at O'Hare International Airport. He was also involved in the design of the FBI headquarters in Washington. Its also the Munich Airport Center and the Sony Center in Berlin.
"He was one of the most inventive architects and his impact on Chicago will never be forgotten," recalls city union Lori Lightfoot on Twitter. (HANDLE).
