The divorce announced in recent days by Bill and Melinda Gates had been in incubation for some time.

The wife of the Microsoft founder began consulting divorce lawyers about two years ago, in October 2019, when her husband's repeated meetings with Jeffrey Epstein became public

after the controversial financier was arrested for child sex trafficking.

The Wall Street Journal writes it, citing people familiar with the affair and after examining some documents.

The Daily Beast had previously written that Melinda - who is committed to promoting women's rights - got angry after she and her husband met Epstein at her Manhattan residence in 2013, telling Bill she wasn't comfortable and confiding to friends that he did not want to have anything to do with the tycoon, already chatted about the accusations of having sexually exploited minors. But his spouse continued to frequent him, even if he always claimed to have done so as part of his philanthropic activity, excluding having participated in equivocal or sexual encounters organized by the tycoon.

The Gates would still have decided to divide their assets, valued at at least 130 billion dollars, and in recent days Bill has already transferred various assets worth almost 2.4 billion dollars to Melinda Recently, the US tabloids have indulged themselves with others gossip, focusing the spotlight on the Chinese interpreter Zhe 'Shelly "Wang, who has worked for the Gates foundation since 2015, and on Ann Winblad, a technology entrepreneur and venture capitalist, Bill's girlfriend in the 1980s, who spent with her every spring a long weekend in his house by the sea, with the consent of his wife.
