A man shot and killed six people early Sunday at a birthday party in the US state of Colorado.
His girlfriend was among the victims.
The stranger then took his own life with a gun.
Children who were also at the party in a trailer park were unharmed and are now in the care of family members.
As informed by the local police.
"The suspect, a friend of one of the female victims, drove into the residence, went inside and started shooting people at the party before killing himself," a police statement said.
The offender's motive has yet to be determined.
Colorado Springs Police Chief Vince Niski said the police force was "incredibly shaken" by the murders.
"This is something you hope never happens in your own community, where you are at home," he said.
As recently as March, a shooter in Colorado had killed ten people in a supermarket.
The attack occurred in a shopping complex with several shops and cafes in the town of Boulder.
The fatalities were between 20 and 65 years old - including a police officer.
US President Joe Biden had spoken out in favor of stricter gun laws after the massacre.
