Queen Elizabeth II has been on the throne of the United Kingdom since 1952.

It can be forgotten that the 95-year-old also had a life before her coronation - for example as a lifeguard.

In a video link with the Royal Life Saving Society, the Queen looked back in a good mood to her time as a young lifeguard.

"It was a great success and I was very proud to wear the badge on the front of my swimsuit," said the 95-year-old in a video of the meeting that the palace released on Monday.

According to the Royal Life Saving Society, Princess Elizabeth, then 14, was the first Commonwealth person to be awarded the Junior Life Saver Badge.

“I didn't even know I was the first.

I just did it and I worked very hard for it, ”said the monarch.

Pointing out that it was 80 years ago, she laughed and said, "This is terrible."

Just a few days after the funeral of her husband Prince Philip, the Queen had started to attend public appointments again - but mostly virtually.

On Tuesday she is expected in the House of Lords in London for the traditional "Queen's Speech", which heralds the new beginning of the parliamentary season.
