Naim Vera, the femicide of Brenda Micaela Gordillo, was

sentenced to life imprisonment

for the crime of "doubly aggravated homicide for mediating a relationship and femicide" committed on March 1, 2020 in Catamarca.

The Court of Criminal Chamber 1, made up of Fernando Esteban, Mauricio Navarro Foressi and Carlos Moreno, decided to

unanimously

convict Vera

and the established penalty coincides with the one requested by the complaint and the Prosecutor's Office on Thursday.

Vera will spend

According to the Penal Code, Vera will spend 35 years in jail without any kind of release benefit.

In addition, an

economic compensation

of three million pesos (updated with the corresponding interest)

was ruled

for the victim's family.

The complaint considers that in the murder there was, as another aggravating factor,

"treachery"

, for which it had asked that the crime committed by the young man be considered triple qualified.

The defense of the young man, for its part, had requested a sentence of

16 years in prison

, at the same time that it considered that none of the aggravating factors raised can be sustained from the point of view of the legal regulations in force.

Naim Vera was 19 years old when he turned himself in to the Police and confessed to the femicide of Brenda Micaela Gordillo.

The details of the case

Brenda Micaela Gordillo

, 24, was murdered by her boyfriend, Naim Vera, who was 19 at the time and confessed to

The young people had arrived on March 1, 2020 around 4 in the morning at an apartment located on Ayacucho Street, in front of the National University of Catamarca, in the capital of that province.

The property belongs to the young man's family, but it was

uninhabited

.

According to Vera himself to the authorities, the couple began to argue over a

presumed pregnancy

that they believed the girl was going through - the autopsy later determined that there was no such pregnancy - and at one point during the fight, said Vera, his girlfriend fell down the stairs and died.

However, subsequent expertise

overthrew the defendant's version

From the autopsy it emerged that Gordillo died not as a result of blows from falling down the ladder, but was killed by

The same autopsy, the prosecutor in the case pointed out at the time, discovered that the girl's body had been

dismembered

as a result of the action of fire.

Investigators determined that Vera later dumped parts of the corpse at two different points.

The prosecutor confirmed that a part of the body - the lower limbs - was found inside bags deposited in a container

20 meters from the scene of the murder

, and that the rest was transferred to the edge of Provincial Route 4, about 13 kilometers from the place.

The security cameras of the Las Rejas Caminero Post registered the defendant circulating in his vehicle along provincial route No. 4, at kilometer 11. It is believed that at that time he was returning home after having left some

On the way he

had been detained at a police checkpoint

told him what he had done

.

Then he did the same with his father.

Around noon, both accompanied him to the headquarters of the Investigation Brigade, located in the center of the capital of Catamarca, where he confessed everything to the Police.
