(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 14 - "Out of respect for the spirit of Eid, I ask for an immediate cessation of hostilities in Gaza and Israel".
The Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres writes in a tweet, referring to the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr, which comes at the end of the fasting month of Ramadan.
"Too many innocent civilians have already died", adds Guterres, who also underlines how "this conflict can only increase radicalization and extremism throughout the region".
